Greetings!
Horse Sense Marketing News offers great tips on marketing
your individual horses, stallions, horses for sale, horse events,
horse training facilities and breeding operations. Kathy Walker
brings 30 years of graphic communications to the equestrian
industry. A horse owner herself, Kathy helps make the
connection between horse people and today's advertising
technology.
A website can be the most important advertising tool
you can use to market your horses. In past issues I've
talked about getting good photos of your horses and
the importance of a great logo for establishing your
name and identity in the horse marketplace. There
are a lot of horse websites out there. Some of them
are working well and some are not. It's a good idea to
visit a number of horse websites, particularly those
that may be your direct competitor in the marketplace.
See what you think is working and what isn't. These
steps will help you get started with your website.
| Getting Organized |
 |
1. Gather photos of horses include
digital and/or
prints.
2. Collect logo and graphics that you
have established.
3. Determine how many pages you
need.
4. What would be the main
categories?
5. Write the copy for the pages in a
Word software.
6. Have your website professionally
done. This is the
most effective and cheapest form of advertising you
can do.

| What's A Key Word? |
 |
|
Key words are crucial to search engines finding you
and determining what category you should be placed
under when someone is doing a search. You can ride a
horse without a bridle and saddle but most people
won't get too far. You can have a website but without
key words but you're floating in "never never land" on
the internet.
Some ideas for key words:
1. The state and area you live in.
2. The breed of horse you're selling.
3. Any notable names that are
current or in the background of your horses' breeding.
4. The discipline your horses are
trained in.
These key words are typed in the coding of the
website. Some website hosting companies provide
that service. If you are computer savvy you can look
up about key words in your software help. For best
results use a reputable website designer.

| Dressage for the Cure - A Huge Success! |
 |
|
Horse Sense Marketing/Counterpoint Design took on
the graphic and website needs for a charity Dressage
Horse Show here in Littleton, Colorado. The logo,
posters and website were carefully coordinated to kick
off what we hope will be an annual event to raise
funds for women who are suffering from breast cancer.
We promoted the horse show, the silent auction and
wine and beer tasting. A quote from one of the
participants, "It was above and beyond the norm, and
hope you continue to support the dressage discipline!
We wish all the shows were such fun!" Bottom line:
we raised $14,000.
